Many parents of Children with Special Needs (CSN parents) struggle with finding the right balance in their life between doing all their responsibilities, taking care of their child with special needs and taking care of themselves. As a result, they take less care of themselves, by eliminate their needs. Therefore, the aim was to design a serious game for parents with children with special needs and should be playable during retraite weekends within the constraints of the COVID-19 measurements. However, due to COVID-19, there was no opportunity to create a physical serious game that can be played during the retraite weekends, thus an online version was created that could easily be converted to a physical design. For the analysis phase, to understand the issue of self-care, five CSN parents and an orthopedagogue were interviewed along with literature research. Also, serious gaming was studied by literature research, reviewing examples of serious games, trying out serious games, talking with experts and being a facilitator of an online serious game I signed up for. With the insights of the analysis phase the design goal was translated in the following transfer effects: 1) Create awareness about the importance of avoiding an unbalance in energy to increase self-care, 2) Create awareness about having the option to increase self-care, and 3) Alter to or reinforce the attitudinal change towards a creative problem-solving attitude for providing self-care. During the project, the game environment changed from real-life to the online platform Miro. A brainstorm session and co-creation followed, aside from individual brainstorming and with other creative minds. Three concepts were developed and tested and in collaboration with Ontzorghuis one was selected. The Bekommerkom game was created after four iteration cycles with different prototypes and four tests. The last two tests were with CSN parents. Based on the reactions of the players and observations I can conclude that the Bekommerkom game is evaluated as successful in achieving the transfer effects. To achieve this, both a well-prepared facilitator and a video call service (e.g. Zoom) are required. Playing the game made the players think and reflect on their life. Many shared to do things differently concerning self-care and thought about possible solutions to improve their situation (like asking for help). Also, Ontzorghuis is content with the result and wants to further develop the Bekommerkom game and a physical version of it in the future.

The lateral entrance process (zij-instroomtraject), LEP, was introduced as a solution to reduce the teacher shortage. However, the Haagse Hogeschool experiences that their participants have a hard time becoming a teacher in primary schools via the lateral entrance process. This is caused by the lateral entrant not being fully integrated into the Dutch education system.

While in the ideal situation of the lateral entrance process, we want the lateral entrant to feel confident about their professional growth and development of their own identity as a teacher. An environment in which the lateral entrant, primary school and LEP education (the three parties) are encouraged to acknowledge, trust and uplift each other is essential to move to the ideal situation of the LEP.

A roadmap and Wave were designed to encourage the three parties to acknowledge, trust and uplift each other to move towards the ideal situation. Four elements, that are both part of Wave and the roadmap, were conceptualised.

The Sprong booklet and online learning environment overview were designed to inform the lateral entrant about practicalities of the LEP. As a consequence, the lateral entrant knows what to expect, can recognise opportunities and can focus on their professional growth. The Sprong booklet is an example of a course manual and should be further developed.

Tripartite canvases and the Coach collective platform were shaped to facilitate the relationship between the three parties. The tripartite canvases support with reflecting on the collaboration between the three parties throughout the project during four meetings. The first two canvases are ready for a pilot, while the third and fourth canvases need to be developed further. Next, it is advised to use the web-application SharePoint as the coach collective platform to share documents between the three parties. The application could be implemented right away.

Immersive audio is an upcoming innovation within the world of professional audio reinforcement. The amount of possibilities of enhancing the listening experience is enlarged drastically by setting up arrays of speakers in front of and around the audience. Technological advancements make it possible to render recorded audio channels for an immersive audio system during live performances. These advancements rely on spatial audio rendering techniques, which will be described partly in this thesis. The elaboration on these techniques serves to clarify how the created audio effects are generated. Object-based audio (OBA) mixing allows the rendering of (pre)recorded audio channels for an immersive audio system. OBA mixing allows to be very close to the listening experience. In the project that is presented in this thesis, an in-depth look is taken at the use cases of immersive audio in the application of live performances. The users of immersive audio systems, who carry the responsibility of developing and executing the content that is reproduced over such systems, are determined and involved in defining a number of common use cases. Through the ability of defining specific requirements, these use cases lay the foundation for the development of a concept of a mixing tool for immersive audio systems. These requirements are supported by a respective definition of quality. Qualitative research is also done in terms of generating ideas. Furthermore, a look is taken at existing relevant software, with analogous functionalities. The research is bundled in a concept for a mixing tool, which is worked out in a visual mock-up. This mock-up is used in an evaluation study, to create an insight into the desirability of the concept. The concept is also laid parallel to its requirements that have been set for it. At last, elements of the concept, which are missing despite their relevance, are discussed. Further research is suggested for the development of these elements. Additionally, some use cases that arose during the project for the use of OBA mixing in the further future are presented.

The world is facing its limits in terms of climate change, scarcity of resources, and pollution. While there is a rising population with a rising demand for mobility, the limits of nature affecting society need to be considered. Avoiding mobility completely seems to be challenging considering a more globalized world, where everything is connected. For this reason, creating a strategy for sustainable mobility is relevant. For creating an innovation strategy several fields were considered and analyzed. Sustainability implications were made and the issues of mobility in terms of sustainability were found out. Since greenhouse gases is the most severe problem it was looked more deeply into different kinds of fuels, which can solve the issue of greenhouse gases. Furthermore, it was looked into strengths and unique characteristics of Embraer, its current situation and brand DNA. An analysis of stakeholders in aviation revealed current barriers that make it difficult for the aviation industry to act sustainably. Also, competitors and their innovation and sustainability strategy were considered. Mapping the context of sustainable mobility helped in identifying major opportunities and threats for Embraer and create trend scenarios that demonstrate possible future developments. Based on the analysis results search fields and a future vision were created. Within a one-day business case, the Embraer Business Challenge, 14 students generated ideas, that were later developed by experts. The final solution proposes to collaborate with a bus manufacturer, that produces hydrogen fuel cell busses. Through the collaboration, Embraer can learn about the technology of hydrogen fuel cells, which helps Embraer to launch its first hydrogen fuel cell 30-seater airplane in 2035. Also, creating and launching a prototype in the time frame between 2025 and 2034 supports Embraer in gaining more experience with hydrogen fuel cells and to convince stakeholders regarding the technology. While preparing the launch of the hydrogen airplane, Embraer uses the collaboration with the bus manufacturer to further invest into busses. Improving the entertainment offer, and connecting the bus experience to further modes of transport makes the offer of the bus more attractive to consumers. Through connecting the different mobility experiences, and offering using several modes of transport through a subscription, Embraer goes into the growing market of mobility-as-a-service. In 2035 Embraer can embed its hydrogen airplane in the MaaS system and promote the airplane through the established system in a better way. The strategic roadmap has been elaborated with several experts to validate the feasibility and desirability of the roadmap solution.

This master thesis explores how to extend the product line of the Dutch stroller company JOOLZ with products that support parents in their homes. Traditionally JOOLZ designs , but want to explore possibilities beyond this market segment. The focus of the assignment is parent life in a large metropolis, such as Tokyo, New York and Amsterdam. Through desk and generative research, the solution space is explored in terms of important aspects of parent child relations as well as everyday life 'rituals' such as sleeping, 'involvement' and nourishment. The solution space is also explored in relation to trends and aspects of parent life in a metropolis, such as space constraints. New tendencies such as micro living are taken into account because the (reduced) availability of space in metropolises are a factor of modern life, a trend which is also being addressed by other companies such as IKEA. Together with various experts and professionals inside and outside the company a series of iterations on concepts and concept directions are carried out. The resulting concepts are documented in stages include the final selection. ‘JOY’ is the name of the selected concept, a mobile device that facilitates everyday life. JOY is a movable frame with interchangeable applications (hammock, dining chair and baby gym) that can be changed according to the area, sparing the space that positioning devices for baby born take. The final concept is detailed to a level where it is feasible and ready to be taken further by domain experts. An analysis of the design characteristics of JOOLZ products is used to show how the selected concept could be made to fit with the JOOLZ portfolio, but still exploring 'new' aesthetic territory. The report concludes with recommendations for how to further develop the concept.
