Digital microfluidics emerged and established over the last 20 years. The scope of applications ranges from pharmaceutical to biological, chemical and even thermal processes. The practical use of Taylor droplets as individual reaction chambers, mixing vessels or simply as transportation vehicles on process engineered microfluidic devices allows for precise control and process intensification of precious materials or sparse samples. Despite this widespread use of Taylor droplets, some of the fundamental physics of this flow have not been investigated experimentally.@en
