Abstract

This project has studied the different gates of Maastricht, looking for their grammar. The gates have turned into a public colonnade in his building that changes proportion and rhythm as you move through. To give the gates a contemporary form the natural stone has been replaced by precast concrete. The details work as modern ornaments that enhance the spatial experience and give a sense of direction.
