Scale to feet is a small, vertical sneaker factory in Zurich’s “Culture Mile.” It uses zero-waste production techniques and is designed to have a relationship with customers and its surroundings through testing facilities and a public program. The production process starts on the ground floor and moves upward. The factory becomes a destination in a scenario where online shopping dominates fashion consumption.

Ready to Rent envisions a fashion rental hub that provides the rental, delivery, and maintenance of a wide range of clothing options. It supports a model of usership in fashion consumption by offering clothing as a service rather than a purchasable product.

The fully automated processing facilities handle used garments used garments for user-to-user transfer in a vertical assembly line, ensuring Good as New certification guaranteeing the same quality standards than the shop floor. Collection and drop-off lockers located throughout the city facilitate the transfer of rental garments and empower unboxing, packaging, and fitting at home, challenging traditional retail settings.

Ready to Rent, located in Rotterdam’s innovative M4H district, offers a unique solution for fashion consumption and supports it as a means of aspirational self-expression.

Sited in the Liège city center, this contribution proposes an urban winery that blends terroir fragments across the Blue Banana, exploring protection regulations that can build upon the knowledge, tradition, and novel techniques of winemaking.

Closely related to the idea of protectionism, and dictated by various regulation policies, wine production and its associated terroir are currently tied to the soil, and, therefore, to a greater rural territory. This contribution posits that due to climate change and technological advancement, the political notion of the “terroir”—as a spatial and conceptual entity that has shaped viticulture—will be revisited in the near future, introducing a new set of qualities and architectural ideas related to wine production.

A belief in the winery’s urban potential drives an attempt to go beyond protectionism by bringing wine production within the architecture of the city, at a moment when Europe—the birthplace of the Old World Wine—must reimagine the future of viticulture.

The project collects past, present, and future stories of energy in, around, and through Gibraltar: fuel economies in the age of Franco; the refueling of middle eastern tankers; the transition from diesel to LNG fuel sources; the additional load of bedroom bit-coin miners, to industrial scale server farms; the interception of fuel tankers bound of middle eastern war zones; the design of new power stations; the laying of new power cables between Europe and north Africa; new forms of decentralized energy sources and the impact of energy migrants crossing the Mediterranean. The stories speak both of the internal and local logics of Gibraltar, and of its role within international networks: the alliances, arrangements, and compromises it makes to ‘keep the power switched on’ and remain a feasible territory; the economical and infrastructural side-effects of energy networks that pass around and through the straits and the peninsula. The project describes how these networks manifest themselves in infrastructure, buildings, and spaces: cables, landing stations, and maintenance rooms; docks, re-fueling stations, and dormitories; LNG trading routes, power stations, control rooms; data networks, underground storage tunnels, bedrooms. It does so in order to tell new stories about Gibraltar; not as a provincial cul-de-sac out of time, but as a node and a conduit in one of the key Geo-strategic locations in the Mediterranean.  This is a location of increasing importance in the decades of climate emergency, as Europe turns towards north Africa for new sources of energy, as climate migrants line the Mediterranean coastline, as shipping and trade transforms.
