This research report is the result of the first year of Campus NL 2023-2027, a project that was conducted on behalf of ‘‘Universities of the Netherlands’’ (UNL) and each of the fourteen Dutch universities, edited by TU Delft's campus research team, during the period from June 2023 to August 2024.
Campus NL is aims to pool the campus management knowledge and experience of 14 Dutch universities to tackle contemporary challenges together. This cooperation already has a decades-long history and connects theory and practice of real estate management. The 2023-2024 theme was ‘hybrid working'.
The report contains:
(A) facts and figures of office space on Campus NL, including a substantial chapter on office utilisation, comparing the use of university workplaces and meeting rooms before and after the corona pandemic,
(B) trends on Campus NL, a literature study on hybrid working and a comparison of the university hybrid working policies and on/off-campus guidelines
(C) lessons from other (public) organisations and international university networks: how do they share knowledge and what is their experience with hybrid working: what can we learn from them?
(D) survey results from a baseline study: how universities evaluate inter-university knowledge sharing on Campus NL, at the start of the collective four-year project?
At the end, the report summarizes all conclusions and dilemmas for hybrid working, merged in two opposing strategies and next steps to take.@en
