Social media like Twitter or Instagram play the role of fertile platforms for self-exhibition and allow their users to earn a good repute. People higher in grandiosity share their contents in a charismatic way and as a result, they are successful in gaining attention from others, which may also influence their responses and behaviors. Such attention and repute enable them to be a trendsetter or a socially recognized maven. In this paper, we present a complex adaptive mental network model of a narcissist to see how popularity can adaptively influence his/her behavior. To analyze and to support behavior showed by our model, we used some key performance indicators from the literature to study the popularity and narcissism of 30 Instagram profiles. The results of the—both computational and empirical—study indicate that our presented computational adaptive network model in general shows the behavior found from the empirical data.@en

Bullying is an intentional abusive behaviour, caused by a power imbalance, which can leave long-lasting effects over the mental and physical health of a victim. In order to combat such situations, victims need someone that can help them, a mediator who is able to reduce the oppression. This paper presents temporal-causal network models related to victimization and its support, based upon social and cognitive literature. The aim of the study is to explore responses of a victim after being bullied and how a mediator can support a victim. Here, a ‘fight or fly strategy’ is presented along with the role of mediator in order to support a victim. Subsequently, the model is tuned and analysed with respect to derived empirical data. Lastly, simulation experiments are compared with a publically available dataset, to verify the behaviour of the model.@en

Parental influence plays an important role in the mental development of a child. In the early years of childhood, a parent acts as a role model to a child, so most of the children try to mimic their parents. In our work, we address a complex network model of a child who is influenced by a narcissistic parent from his/her childhood to his/her adolescence. This concept of mimicking in childhood is represented by social contagion. Later on, he/she can learn to develop his/her own personality based on experience and learning. This model can be used to predict the influence of a parent over the personality of a child.@en
