Institution National Aerospace Laboratory NLR Date 2002-04-30 Abstract The surveillance function plays a key-role within an Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (A-SMGCS) since it provides essential information to the air traffic controllers as well as to other A-SMGCS functions. This paper presents an overview of airport surveillance research at the National Aerospace Laboratory NLR of the Netherlands. It builds on the advanced Muhi-Sensor Multi-Target tracking approach, which NLR developed for Eurocontrol's ATM Surveillance Tracker and Server (ARTAS). The aim of the paper is to provide an overview of the key extensions towards airport surveillance.
